| Uncategorized | September 4, 2012

Description

facialA Facial Treatment is a procedure that incorporates different kinds of skin treatments for the face. The complete facial machine with non-surgical lift and oxygen infusion via ozonizer.
The machine has utilized the science in infrared rays that will excrete the toxins on the skin while opening the pores where the toxins will be excreted. This is in combination with the special cleansing cream that absorbs the roxins being excreted by the skin. Micro dermabrasion is a superbly effective treatment that mechanically exfoliates the skin with micro-crystals removing dead cells, improving  texture and smoothing away irregularities. Micro dermabrasion also acts to stimulate the production of fresh new skin cells and collagen. What is ionizer? It’s like a little handheld device that you run over your  face for 10 mins a day after you put on whatever facial cream that you use. It has negative and positive ions:

a.negative ions for deep cleansing; they force out the crap in your pores.

b.positive ions for skin enriching; they help your skin absorb nutritions better.  Oxygen infusion uses simply to improve circulation and make sallow skin  glow.  After just one treatment, your skin will feel firmer, rejuvenated, radiant, and fresh. Oxygen therapy facilitates the delivery of liquid antioxidants and other active ingredients to the deeper layers of the skin and it also protects the epidermis from sun damage, pollution, and stress. Face lifts involve smoothing out the wrinkles on your face and the tightening all of the tissue underneath, creating the appearance of a younger face, which is more firm. The overall effect is that of removing the  signs of aging.

Before proceeding further, first scan your system with up-to-date antivirus, and then follow the given steps to enable it.

Wireless Security: Encryption

Encryption is widely used for security of data, including wireless network security. Encryption is where data is translated into code for transmission via the radio waves. An encryption key, similar to a password, is needed to encrypt the code for transfer. If you are only minimally concerned with security, such as in wireless home network security, you may consider WEP encryption, which some find easier to configure with their current equipment.

Protecting your password

Your passwords are crucial to your wireless network security and should not be revealed to unauthorized individuals. Do not leave your password lying around or written in an obvious location. When entering your username and/or password, make sure people are not milling around and looking over your shoulder. Be very careful of responding to emails asking for passwords. Most legitimate companies do not ask for passwords via email due to the lack of security. These tips are useful for both wireless security and wired security.

What is VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol)?

VOIP stand for Voice over Internet Protocol, in common terms voice connection using internet protocol through internet. In technical words VOIP is a technology used to transmit voice using broadband internet connection instead of old analog phone lines. There are many VOIP software are available in the market used to connect voice phone call and VOIP service providers offer their service with very low rates as compare to old Phone line service.

VOIP technique transfers voice data using Internet protocol, that is why first it convert voice data into digital signal to travel on internet. There is no special equipment used to make VOIP connection and this can be completed with a good internet speed connection like DSL and a cable modem. You can make local call and also long distance call using VOIP but all depends on your VOIP service provider.

The main reasons to choose to VOIP connection Its lower rate as compare to traditional phone line. There are a variety of devices that can take VoIP calls. Some aren’t even hardware at all, but software programs you can install on your computer.

How to Troubleshoot Connectivity problems

1. Use the ping command to test the basic connectivity. By using the ping command you can isolate network hardware problems and incompatible configurations. By using the path ping you can detect packet loss.

2. If you want to see the Ping’s statistics then you ping -t command and press enter to continue and if you want to stop then press CTRL+BREAKTo watch Ping statistics, use the ping -t command. To see statistics and continue, press CTRL+BREAK. To stop, press CTRL+C.

3. If you remote system is across the delay link, such as satellite link responses may take longer.

4. Check the event logs for network card and other hardware and software configurations and connectivity related entries.

5. Check whether the NIC card is on the Microsoft Hardware Compatibility List (HCL).

6. Check other computers that use the same gateway and are plugged into the same hub or switch and if these computers do not show any network connectivity problem then the problem is on the only one computer.

7. Contact the vendor of each NIC and motherboard and update the BIOS.

8. Replace the network adapter of the system with the good configured system and see if the same error arise again.

Make sure that you have the same IP address schme, same subnet mask, same default gateway, same DNS and DHCP settings for all the computers in a network. Also make sure that you can ping the other computers by their IP address as well as by their name. Make sure that you have the same workgroup or domain name for all the computers. For troubleshooting and administrative purposes turn off all the firewalls. Use the same administrative password for troubleshooting on all the computers. Try pinging the other computers this will test the TCP/IP connectivity. You can use the ping command in this format ping 10.100.100.1 and if you can get the reply from the other computer then the connectivity is ok and if get the time out error then there must me some error in the connectivity or error in configurations.

Ways To Increase Pages Indexed

| Blog, Computer How To's, SEO | April 16, 2011

10 Ways To Increase Pages Indexed

For a while now webmasters have fretted over why all of the pages of their website are not indexed. As usual there doesn’t seem to be any definite answer. But some things are definite, if not automatic, and some things seem like pretty darn good guesses. So, we scoured the forums, blogs, and Google’s own guidelines for increasing the number of pages Google indexes, and came up with our (and the community’s) best guesses.

The running consensus is that a webmaster shouldn’t expect to get all of their pages crawled and indexed, but there are ways to increase the number.

PageRank

It depends a lot on PageRank. The higher your PageRank the more pages that will be indexed. PageRank isn’t a blanket number for all your pages. Each page has its own PageRank. A high PageRank gives the Googlebot more of a reason to return. Matt Cutts confirms, too, that a higher PageRank means a deeper crawl.

Links

Give the Googlebot something to follow. Links (especially deep links) from a high PageRank site are golden as the trust is already established. Internal links can help, too. Link to important pages from your homepage. On content pages link to relevant content on other pages.

Sitemap

A lot of buzz around this one. Some report that a clear, well-structured Sitemap helped get all of their pages indexed. Google’s Webmaster guidelines recommends submitting a Sitemap file, too:Tell us all about your pages by submitting a Sitemap file; help us learn which pages are most important to you and how often those pages change. That page has other advice for improving crawlability, like fixing violations and validating robots.txt.

Some recommend having a Sitemap for every category or section of a site.

Speed

A recent O’Reilly report indicated that page load time and the ease with which the Googlebot can crawl a page may affect how many pages are indexed. The logic is that the faster the Googlebot can crawl, the greater number of pages that can be indexed. This could involve simplifying the structures and/or navigation of the site. The spiders have difficulty with Flash and Ajax. A text version should be added in those instances. Google’s crawl caching proxy Matt Cutts provides diagrams of how

Google’s crawl caching proxy at his blog

This was part of the Big Daddy update to make the engine faster. Any one of three indexes may crawl a site and send the information to a remote server, which is accessed by the remaining indexes (like the blog index or the AdSense index) instead of the bots for those indexes physically visiting your site. They will all use the mirror instead. Verify Verify the site with Google using the Webmaster tools.

Content, content, content

Make sure content is original. If a verbatim copy of another page, the Googlebot may skip it. Update frequently. This will keep the content fresh. Pages with an older timestamp might be viewed as static, outdated, or already indexed.

Staggered launch

Launching a huge number of pages at once could send off spam signals. In one forum, it is suggested that a webmaster launch a maximum of 5,000 pages per week.

Size matters

If you want tens of millions of pages indexed, your site will probably have to be on an Amazon.com or Microsoft.com level.

Know how your site is found, and tell Google

Find the top queries that lead to your site and remember that anchor text helps in links. Use Google’s tools to see which of your pages are indexed, and if there are violations of some kind. Specify your preferred domain so Google knows what to index.

How Computer Network Works

| Blog, Networking | April 16, 2011

Computer Network

A computer network is a group of interconnected computers. Networks may be classified according to a wide variety of characteristics. This article provides a general overview of some types and categories and also presents the basic components of a network.

A network is a collection of computers and devices connected to each other. The network allows computers to communicate with each other and share resources and information. The Advance Research Projects Agency (ARPA) designed “Advanced Research Projects Agency Network” (ARPANET) for the United States Department of Defense. It was the first computer network in the world in late 1960′s and early 1970′s.

Computer networks may be classified according to the network topology upon which the network is based, such as bus network, star network, ring network, mesh network, star-bus network, tree or hierarchical topology network. Network topology signifies the way in which devices in the network see their logical relations to one another. The use of the term “logical” here is significant. That is, network topology is independent of the “physical” layout of the network. Even if networked computers are physically placed in a linear arrangement, if they are connected via a hub, the network has a Star topology, rather than a bus topology. In this regard the visual and operational characteristics of a network are distinct; the logical network topology is not necessarily the same as the physical layout. Networks may be classified based on the method of data used to convey the data, these include digital and analog networks.

Local area network

A local area network (LAN) is a computer network covering a small physical area, like a home, office, or small group of buildings, such as a school, or an airport. Current wired LANs are most likely to be based on Ethernet technology, although new standards like ITU-T G.hn also provide a way to create a wired LAN using existing home wires (coaxial cables, phone lines and power lines).

For example, a library may have a wired or wireless LAN for users to interconnect local devices (e.g., printers and servers) and to connect to the internet. On a wired LAN, PCs in the library are typically connected by category 5 (Cat5) cable, running the IEEE 802.3 protocol through a system of interconnected devices and eventually connect to the Internet. The cables to the servers are typically on Cat 5e enhanced cable, which will support IEEE 802.3 at 1 Gbit/s. A wireless LAN may exist using a different IEEE protocol, 802.11b, 802.11g or possibly 802.11n. The staff computers (bright green in the figure) can get to the color printer, checkout records, and the academic network and the Internet. All user computers can get to the Internet and the card catalog. Each workgroup can get to its local printer. Note that the printers are not accessible from outside their workgroup.

All interconnected devices must understand the network layer (layer 3), because they are handling multiple subnets (the different colors). Those inside the library, which have only 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet connections to the user device and a Gigabit Ethernet connection to the central router, could be called “layer 3 switches” because they only have Ethernet interfaces and must understand IP. It would be more correct to call them access routers, where the router at the top is a distribution router that connects to the Internet and academic networks’ customer access routers.

The defining characteristics of LANs, in contrast to WANs (wide area networks), include their higher data transfer rates, smaller geographic range, and lack of a need for leased telecommunication lines. Current Ethernet or other IEEE 802.3 LAN technologies operate at speeds up to 10 Gbit/s. This is the data transfer rate. IEEE has projects investigating the standardization of 100 Gbit/s, and possibly 400 Gbit.

Additional Information

Switches are another fundamental part of many networks because they speed things up. Switches allow different nodes (a network connection point, typically a computer) of a network to communicate directly with one another in a smooth and efficient manner.

here are many different types of switches and networks. Switches that provide a separate connection for each node in a company’s internal network are called LAN switches. Essentially, a LAN switch creates a series of instant networks that contain only the two devices communicating with each other at that particular moment. In this article, we will focus on Ethernet networks that use LAN switches. You will learn what a LAN switch is and how transparent bridging works, as well as about VLANs, trunking and spanning trees.

In today’s business world, reliable and efficient access to information has become an important asset in the quest to achieve a competitive advantage. File cabinets and mountains of papers have given way to computers that store and manage information electronically. Coworkers thousands of miles apart can share information instantaneously, just as hundreds of workers in a single location can simultaneously review research data maintained online.

Computer networking technologies are the glue that binds these elements together. The public Internet allows businesses around the world to share information with each other and their customers. The global computer network known as the World Wide Web provides services that let consumers buy books, clothes, and even cars online, or auction those same items off when no longer wanted.

How to Backup Data Properly

| Blog, Computer How To's | April 16, 2011

Backup Data Properly

Computer data can be very important to us, especially those of us who make a living on the computer. Over the last several years, the computer has grown on all of us, making our lives so much easier. For that very reason, it’s easy to tell that if we lost our computer data, it would completely destroy a majority of us.

Losing data can be an overwhelming thought to say the least. Computers store data, although machines have been known to fail. Even though the computer has become a lot more reliable over the years, it is virtually impossible to prevent computers from losing data.

You don’t need to take this lying down through, as you can indeed fight back. The ideal way to ensure that you never lose your precious data, is to back it up and keep backing it up. You should back up your computer data at least once a week, with once per day being the recommended way to do it.

In the past, and even some today, the floppy disc is the main method used to back up computer data. Even though they store a small amount of data, they are easy to access, easy to use, and nearly every computer has one.

Those of you who are looking to take things to the next level should look into backing up your entire hard drive. Backing up your entire hard drive is something that everyone should do, as it is indeed one of the best and most reliable ways to backup your computer.
When you create a backup of your entire hard drive, it will copy all of your information, so if something happens you’ll always have your data. Doing a full backup of your hard drive is great, although it can be very time consuming. To make matters worse, it is recommended that you create a backup at least once a week. On the other hand, if what you have on your computer is very important, you’ll find it more than worth the effort and time needed to back things up.

Another way you can back up your data, programs, and files, is to burn them directly to a data CD or DVD. This way, you can select which files or folders you want to keep. If you use CD/RW or DVD/RW disks, you can continue to add information to them when you create a backup. If you don’t use the RW (re-writable) media, then you won’t be able to go back and add more information to the disc.
Burning data directly to discs are the method of backup that most people are using these days, although backing up the entire hard drive is the preferred way of backing up your data. If you plan to use discs, youll need either a CD or DVD burner, which you can get for a great price these days. The discs are cheap as well, which only makes this method of backing things up that much better.
Whether it’s for your business or for personal reasons, you can’t go wrong backing up your data. You should always strive to back things up properly, as this will ensure that the data will always be there when you need it. This way, if you computer happens to crash or you lose everything on your hard drive, you’ll always have your backup files to go back to. This in itself can save you a lot of time, effort, and quite possibly even money – just for the simple fact that the files are all but a copy away to restore.

Format Your HDD

When formatting a hard drive there are many possible approaches and thus many ways of screwing things up. I will cover with a great deal of detail all the aspects of what formatting hard drive really means.

First of all you must understand that when you format a hard drive everything stored on it will be lost and by that I mean everything. You should be aware that if you do the formatting for upgrading the file system that the partition has there are most likely other less drastic methods. You can quite easily for example upgrade from FAT16 to FAT32 without much hassle. Also if you want to consider formatting a partition for the use of a Linux system you should be aware that most recent Linux editions can quite easily mount FAT partitions, with NTFS partitions it is quite a different story as they are encrypted.
Another reason for which you might choose to format a hard drive is to get rid of the sensitive information found on it. If you do the formatting for this purpose make sure you do a full format, otherwise your data can still be rather easily recovered and worst still even you format the data correctly a really committed individual can still extract quite a large amount of data from it using more advanced techniques. To really get rid of sensitive information you should use programs that overwrite it several times in different random patterns.
Of course you might just want to format a brand new hard drive simply to create some usable partitions in which case all of the above ranting is rather useless.
There are some occasions when you meet a lot of errors during the format process and you may still not be able to properly create those partitions. In this unfortunate case there is only one solution and it is not a pretty one. This will typically happen on very old hard drives who have developed some bad sectors, some of them in really critical areas. The answer to this problem is the low format option. This will effectively erase anything on the hard drive (not just a single partition) and will mark all the bad sectors. Be careful though because by this method you will literally lose everything and you will have to create partitions again. Another drawback of this method is that it can be done only from old computers who have this utility in their BIOS. The most recent computers simply don’t have this function implemented, don’t know why really. It is probably the manufacturers’ subtle hint to go get a new hard drive.
In information technology, backup refers to making copies of data so that these additional copies may be used to restore the original after a data loss event. These additional copies are typically called “backups.” Backups are useful primarily for two purposes. The first is to restore a state following a disaster (called disaster recovery). The second is to restore small numbers of files after they have been accidentally deleted or corrupted. Data loss is also very common. 66% of internet users have suffered from serious data loss.
Since a backup system contains at least one copy of all data worth saving, the data storage requirements are considerable. Organizing this storage space and managing the backup process is a complicated undertaking. A data repository model can be used to provide structure to the storage. In the modern era of computing there are many different types of data storage devices that are useful for making backups. There are also many different ways in which these devices can be arranged to provide geographic redundancy, data security, and portability.
Before data is sent to its storage location, it is selected, extracted, and manipulated. Many different techniques have been developed to optimize the backup procedure. These include optimizations for dealing with open files and live data sources as well as compression, encryption, and de-duplication, among others. Many organizations and individuals try to have confidence that the process is working as expected and work to define measurements and validation techniques. It is also important to recognize the limitations and human factors involved in any backup scheme.

How to Backup Data Properly

Search Engine Optimization

| Blog, SEO | April 16, 2011

Website and Blog Optimization (SEO)

Today, the most popular tool that the users employ to find products and information on the web is the search engine. Consequentially, ranking well in a search engine can be very profitable. In a search landscape where users rarely peruse past the first or second page of search results, poor rankings are simply not an option. Search engine optimization aims to increase the number of visitors to a web site from unpaid, “organic” search engine listings by improving rankings.

How does it help?

Search engine optimization is the process done to generate traffic through search engines. It became a need for websites because 80%-90% of visitors come from major search engines. Higher rankings mean greater number of visitors. The same concept applies to blogs. However, many blog owners are not aware of their chances of being more visible on the web. They just update it once in a while and that’s it. Considering the great number of blogs on the net today, from personal to corporate blogs, all their efforts will just go to waste if they do not optimize it. Yes, blogs can be optimized, too. It should be done for the benefit both of your readers and search engine spiders. Although the process is quite similar with the standard website search engine optimization, it is a bit different. Here are some tips that you can do to start:

Consider the Design

It is not advisable to use the default template being offered by blog publishing sites. You wouldn’t want to bump into a girl in a party wearing the same dress, do you? Same thing goes to blogs. You can hire a designer to do the work for you. If running a tight budget, you can always look for free templates offered by web design companies and you can customize it a little to make it unique.

Optimize the Tags

Use the most substantial phrase for your blog in the hard code of the title tag. Also, you have to double check that each entry’s title appears on the tile tag. This is sometimes overlooked.

Keywords

You should always use your keywords in the blog post titles and categories. You can also use many categories in one entry if appropriate.

RSS Feed

It is best that you have RSS subscription button available on your blog. This would be more convenient to your readers because it will publish your recently updated work. If your blog publisher don’t have RSS automatically available, there are RSS feed button creation tool on the net. But make sure that you place it where the readers can easily see them. You can put it in your sidebar. It is already on the blog owner’s prerogative if he/she wants to full or partial RSS.

Use Email

Because there are some people who are not familiar with RSS feeds, go the extra mile and offer them something else with the same benefits. I’m talking about You can have your blog post via email. Free tools are also available online to do this.

Compelling Introduction

Introduction about the blog post is sent out via RSS feed. Make sure that it is compelling to enough to make your readers want to have more of it so that they would click the “more” button and read the entire article. Therefore, it should be interesting.

Check your CSS

It is common that blogs come with overwhelming amount of CSS or Cascading Style Sheets. The solution to this is to place it in an external CSS file to avoid clutter in the main template and for the main entry not to go further down.

Keywords-rich Anchor Texts

In placing links in other sites/blogs and even in putting internal links, make sure that you are using keyword-rich anchor text. Remember that it is always better to use your keywords than “click here” or “more”. It would benefit you when search engine spiders crawl your blog.

Keep Your Posts Bonded

If your blog post is somehow connected to your previous posts, link them to each other. The idea is that if your reader is interested in this particular topic, then he/she probably can also be entertained of a different story with the same subject matter. You can use Related Posts Plugin for this.

Do the same in other blogs. If you see a blog entry or an article on the same issue, make them knowledgeable of your existence by placing a link going to your post.

Purchase a Domain

We all know that blog hosting companies will only be around for such a time. Once they close their business, they will be closing your blog as well. If that happens, where will your loyal followers find you? Or there are change in the domain of your blog host, it will surely affect your rankings.

In case you have limited resources and can only settle to free hosting companies, look for those who offer to display your own domain rather than displaying their own like WordPress and Blogger.

Proper URL Naming Convention

It is always a bad idea to use dynamic URLs whether on websites or blogs. You should always take advantage of any chance you have to use keywords, without keyword stuffing, including this one. Meaning, instead of using “www.xyzblog.com/?246”, you can consider “www.xyzblog.com/blog-post-keywords-here”. When you cannot do anything about it, use mod rewrite.

Good Navigation

If your blog is just a part of a website, it is not ebough that you a have a link going to your blog’s main page. Use the sidebar to syndicate your new posts because the visitors of the website might get interested in your articles if they see the titles.

Fast Page Load

The amount of time involved for a page to load all depends on your host. There are some blogs that takes about half a minute just from the snippet of RSS feed to the full article. You can lose a lot of readers just because of this reason alone.

Moderated Trackbacks and Comments

Spammers are everywhere. They always find a way to abuse your blog by putting non-sense comments with links going to their website. It is annoying and it can also affect your rankings. There are numerous tools available online which you can use to moderate and avoid comment and trackbak spam. Don’t just create a blog to share great information or to prove that you know a lot about the field you are into. Do not settle on the number of followers your blog has. Start to optimize now and see the great changes on the next few months.

SEO consulting is a good option if you are not fully confident about looking for a part of the SEO service like forum posting or article writing. It is a safer choice that can provide you with a lot better insight into the kind of actions you could take to best promote your website or online store. Search Engine Optimization consulting will make sure that you are getting good SEO advice from an SEO expert who has the relevant experience in the SEO field and known the ins and outs of how search engines work. It is a good idea to learn from these SEO professionals at least for the first website you are promoting. When you are in the process of deciding whether you should take on SEO consulting services or not, you should take into account the significant benefits that it can bring you. First and foremost, if you have an SEO expert to talk to, he or she would be able to share with you the knowledge he has gained in the field over the years and will be able to give you great ideas as to how you should best promote your site. If you are paying the Search Engine Optimization consulting company, you are free to ask their representative all sorts of questions as to how you can get an edge over your competitors.

In the end your goal is to promote your website so if you can get help from an SEO expert who has a proven track record, you can be sure that you will be leaving your competitors far behind. If you blindly go for an SEO consulting service you may have no assurance that your website will be successful so you have to make sure they know their business. Checkout the portfolio they have or speak to customers they have worked with. But if you select a Search Engine Optimization consulting company based on their proven work experience you should have absolutely no problem and the money spent will provide you with good returns in no time at all. There is no doubt that the benefits far outweigh the alternatives. Most Search Engine Optimization consulting experts will advice you to include the desired keywords in your web pages and use them for meta tags as well. Also, link building is a very important way of increasing your search engine page rank. This is simply putting relevant content like articles with the desired keywords on some high ranking websites with links back to your website. This way your web pages get indexed and you get traffic from these high ranking pages too when people read your articles and click on the links in the resource box.

Search engine optimization techniques for Google and Yahoo are quite different. Many websites rank well in one search engine but not the other. This is the direct result of each search engine having its own unique ranking algorithm. For example, the Google algorithm predominantly values the anchor text of in-bound links. Yahoo places more emphasis on keyword density and meta tags.

The primary reason for the difference in ranking algorithms is that Google owns the patent on Page Rank (PR), named after Google’s founder Larry Page. As a result of owning this patent, other search engines need to place more emphasis on different optimization factors including website URL, keyword density and so on.

What are the greatest differences in search engine algorithms?

Google places a significant amount of emphasis on inbound links to your website. The value of these inbound links are measured based on their Google PR. The more links you receive from high Google PR web pages, the better your search result placements will be for a given keyword or search term.

Yahoo places emphasis on website URLs, meta tags, and keyword density. These factors can be analyzed on any website with a limited amount of effort, allowing Yahoo to quickly and easily rank websites properly.

How you can optimize your website for both Google and Yahoo!

The challenge all website owners face is making the most of their optimization efforts. When thinking about search engine optimization, you need to cover all the bases. To do so, pay particular attention to the following guidelines.

Keyword Targeted URL. If your website URL doesn’t contain your keywords, consider purchasing a new one or creating a new page off of your root directory (ex: marketingscoop.com/internetmarketing.htm). Having your keywords in the URL helps improve both your Yahoo and Google search results. Yahoo weighs the website address as an important ranking factor. Google values a keyword rich URL when third party websites place a link to your site using nothing but a web address.

Meta Tags. Although not as important as they once were, Yahoo still uses meta tags to help align search engine rankings and appropriate website pages. Make sure that your meta tags are complete and include your keyword phrases in the title, description, and keyword tags.

Keyword Density Between 6 – 8%. Although much has been written about the importance of keyword density remaining between 2 – 3%, Yahoo looks for sites with keyword densities as high as 8%. Don’t be afraid to include your keywords throughout your webpage content. Make sure however, that your keyword density is not more than 8%.

Link Building. This is the most important factor for increasing Google search result placements. Develop a link building campaign and give other sites a reason to link to your site. This may include free downloads, tools, or other valuable resources.

Site Map. Publish a sitemap. This makes it easy for search engines to spider your website and access all of your most important web pages. Site maps should be accessible from your home page and kept up-to-date.

Optimizing for both Google and Yahoo can be challenging. Following basic seo principles and working to develop incoming links can help you reach the top of the largest search engines. Apply these techniques regularly to see the greatest results.

How to Troubleshoot Ram

| Blog, PC Troubleshooting | April 16, 2011

Troubleshoot Ram

Warning! You must unplug your ATX power supply from the wall before working inside the case.

Does your computer suffer from random freezes or inexplicable crashes? While these could be caused by various underlying problems, one factor that can be ruled out with a little troubleshooting is your computer’s memory chips, known as RAM. This guide will show you how to check for problems with your RAM

Instructions

Some problems might be caused by dust, dirt, or oxidation on your RAM sticks. Fortunately, computers are easy to clean. Before opening your computer, always turn off all power to it, and touch an earthed metal object to remove any static electricity in your body to prevent a static spark from damaging components. You may even want to use a special anti-static wrist strap, which you will find in any good electronics store, along with the air duster you’ll need later.

Open up your computer and locate the RAM sticks on your motherboard – check the manual for your motherboard if you are unsure (if you don’t have a manual, note the make and model which are printed on the motherboard, you should be able to get the manual from the manufacturer’s website). There are usually only one or two RAM sticks, but there might be up to four.

Remove the RAM sticks by gently but firmly pressing down the levers on either end of the RAM slot. Note which slots you are removing the sticks from, as you’ll need to replace them later. Once the RAM is out, place it on a clean, non-metallic surface and use the air duster to remove any dust from the RAM stick and the RAM slots on the motherboard (you may want to take this opportunity to remove the dust from inside your computer in general!).

Check the metal contacts along the bottom of the RAM stick. If they appear tarnished, you can clean them by gently and carefully rubbing them with a pencil eraser. Once they are clean, replace them by carefully pressing the RAM down into the correct slots (you took a note of them earlier, right?) until the levers at each end are fully in place.

Now put the case back on your computer, plug in the power and start it up. At this stage your problems may be fixed if dusty RAM was the issue. If not, you’ll need to run some tests to determine if your RAM is damaged. Memtest86+ is good software for testing your memory, so go to http://www.memtest.org/ and download Memtest86+ – you’ll probably want to get the “Bootable ISO” version, which can be burned onto a CD. Failing that get the “Pre-compiled package for floppy” which has everything you need to put the program on a bootable floppy disk. Continue once you have Memtest86+ on either a CD or a floppy disk.

Restart your computer and enter the BIOS setup screen (the key to do this should be indicated at startup, if not consult the motherboard manual). Locate the options which set the boot order for devices in your computer and change it so that either floppy drive or CD drive is first in the order, depending on which type of disk you put Memtest on. Put the Memtest disk into your computer now, and exit the BIOS setup, making sure that your changes are saved.

Your computer will restart and should now load the Memtest86+ software from the disk you inserted. It will automatically start testing your computer’s memory. At this stage it is recommended to leave the test running for a couple of passes, to be sure that any possible faults are located.

If Memtest reports errors, and you only have one RAM stick, the stick has a fault and should be replaced. If you have more than one RAM stick, you can remove all but one stick from your computer (following the precautions mentioned previously) and test one at a time. This way, you can keep any sticks that test OK and either replace the faulty ones, or simply throw them out make do with less RAM (unless they all test faulty – you need at least one good one!).

If Memtest reports no errors, or replacing/removing faulty RAM sticks doesn’t stop your computer crashing or freezing, then your problem lies elsewhere – but at least you know your RAM is healthy now!

Tips & Warnings

RAM sticks often have a long or even lifetime warranty. If you find that any are damaged, it’s worth checking with the manufacturer to see if you can get a free replacement.

Don’t use any kind of vacuum cleaner or similar appliance to clean inside your computer. Vacuum cleaners have motors in them, and motors tend to create a lot of static electricity, which can easily damage electronic components.

Don’t try to clean your computer with anything wet, such as water, household cleaning chemicals etc.

Make sure the fan on that heat sink spins up the second that power comes on. If it doesn’t, despite being connected to the correct power point (see the motherboard manual), replace it with a new active heat sink unit. Make sure the bottom surface of the new unit will make full contact with the exposed CPU die or the top of the CPU package. The only problem with replacing an active heat sink is it may be too late for your CPU. CPUs have an unfortunate tendency to damage themselves when they overheat. Some CPUs can go into thermal runaway and destroy themselves in a matter of seconds without proper cooling.

If you don’t feel comfortable performing internal maintenance on your own computer, TAKE IT TO A QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN. The last thing you want to do is mess up the job and ruin your computer.

Tips and Solution

Common laptop computer problems include overheating caused by a lack of air circulation, a dead battery or problems with the sensitive LCD screen. Keep a laptop lasting longer and consider visiting the manufacturer or a laptop repairman to fix problems with advice from a software developer.

Network Cable

Network Cross-Cable UTP crossed cable you can easily connect your computer to any other computer or access point. The cable is CAT5 standard, offers optimal protection against external interference and enables a transfer rate up to 1000 Mbps. The cable can be used in a 10/100/1000 Mbps network.

UTP Cable you can easily connect your computer to your network peripheral equipment like, for example a hub, switch, router or modem. This keep your network neatly organized when using the cable in a patch box or distributor box. The cable is CAT5 standard, offers optimal protection against external interference, and enables a transfer rate up to 1000 Mbps. The cable can be used in a 10/100/1000 Mbps standard.

How to enable the Windows Task Manager and Regedit Editor ?

unlock the windows Regedit Editor and Task Manager. Normally the reason of this message is that your computer has been infected by virus, trojan, or piece of spyware and message look like” Registry editor has been disabled by your administrator” or “Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator”. By default Windows Task Manager and registry editor status is enabled, but a user can also disable or enable it manually. Some time a registry hack applies on both editors to disable it.

When you are calling PC-TO-PC phone call then it can be even no cast but with low cast you can make call PC to traditional phone line any where in the world. Some VOIP providers allowing you to makes unlimited calls on monthly bases with fix chargers. This is best option for a company to increase their performance with minimum cost. There any many features and services VOIP provider offers that are not available with a traditional phone line companies.

Why Computer Crash?

| Blog, PC Error Messages | April 16, 2011

Fatal error: the system has become unstable or is busy,” it says. “Enter to return to Windows or press Control-Alt-Delete to restart your computer. If you do this you will lose any unsaved information in all open applications.” You have just been struck by the Blue Screen of Death. Anyone who uses Mcft Windows will be familiar with this. What can you do? More importantly, how can you prevent it happening?

1 Hardware conflict

The number one reason why Windows crashes is hardware conflict. Each hardware device communicates to other devices through an interrupt request channel (IRQ). These are supposed to be unique for each device.

For example, a printer usually connects internally on IRQ 7. The keyboard usually uses IRQ 1 and the floppy disk drive IRQ 6. Each device will try to hog a single IRQ for itself.

If there are a lot of devices, or if they are not installed properly, two of them may end up sharing the same IRQ number. When the user tries to use both devices at the same time, a crash can happen. The way to check if your computer has a hardware conflict is through the following route:

Start-Settings-Control Panel-System-Device Manager

Often if a device has a problem a yellow ‘!’ appears next to its description in the Device Manager. Highlight Computer (in the Device Manager) and press Properties to see the IRQ numbers used by your computer. If the IRQ number appears twice, two devices may be using it.

Sometimes a device might share an IRQ with something described as ‘IRQ holder for PCI steering’. This can be ignored. The best way to fix this problem is to remove the problem device and reinstall it.

Sometimes you may have to find more recent drivers on the internet to make the device function properly. A good resource is www.driverguide.com . If the device is a soundcard, or a modem, it can often be fixed by moving it to a different slot on the motherboard (be careful about opening your computer, as you may void the warranty).

When working inside a computer you should switch it off, unplug the mains lead and touch an unpainted metal surface to discharge any static electricity.

To be fair to Mcft, the problem with IRQ numbers is not of its making. It is a legacy problem going back to the first PC designs using the IBM 8086 chip. Initially there were only eight IRQs. Today there are 16 IRQs in a PC. It is easy to run out of them. There are plans to increase the number of IRQs in future designs.

2 Bad Ram

Ram (random-access memory) problems might bring on the blue screen of death with a message saying Fatal Exception Error. A fatal error indicates a serious hardware problem. Sometimes it may mean a part is damaged and will need replacing.

But a fatal error caused by Ram might be caused by a mismatch of chips. For example, mixing 70-nanosecond (70ns) Ram with 60ns Ram will usually force the computer to run all the Ram at the slower speed. This will often crash the machine if the Ram is overworked.

One way around this problem is to enter the BIOS settings and increase the wait state of the Ram. This can make it more stable. Another way to troubleshoot a suspected Ram problem is to rearrange the Ram chips on the motherboard, or take some of them out. Then try to repeat the circumstances that caused the crash. When handling Ram try not to touch the gold connections, as they can be easily damaged.

Parity error messages also refer to Ram. Modern Ram chips are either parity (ECC) or non parity (non-ECC). It is best not to mix the two types, as this can be a cause of trouble.

EMM386 error messages refer to memory problems but may not be connected to bad Ram. This may be due to free memory problems often linked to old Dos-based programmes.

3 BIOS settings

Every motherboard is supplied with a range of chipset settings that are decided in the factory. A common way to access these settings is to press the F2 or delete button during the first few seconds of a boot-up.

Once inside the BIOS, great care should be taken. It is a good idea to write down on a piece of paper all the settings that appear on the screen. That way, if you change something and the computer becomes more unstable, you will know what settings to revert to.

A common BIOS error concerns the CAS latency. This refers to the Ram. Older EDO (extended data out) Ram has a CAS latency of 3. Newer SDRam has a CAS latency of 2. Setting the wrong figure can cause the Ram to lock up and freeze the computer’s display.

Mcft Windows is better at allocating IRQ numbers than any BIOS. If possible set the IRQ numbers to Auto in the BIOS. This will allow Windows to allocate the IRQ numbers (make sure the BIOS setting for Plug and Play OS is switched to ‘yes’ to allow Windows to do this.).

4 Hard disk drives

After a few weeks, the information on a hard disk drive starts to become piecemeal or fragmented. It is a good idea to defragment the hard disk every week or so, to prevent the disk from causing a screen freeze. Go to

Start-Programs-Accessories-System Tools-Disk Defragmenter

This will start the procedure. You will be unable to write data to the hard drive (to save it) while the disk is defragmenting, so it is a good idea to schedule the procedure for a period of inactivity using the Task Scheduler.

The Task Scheduler should be one of the small icons on the bottom right of the Windows opening page (the desktop).

Some lockups and screen freezes caused by hard disk problems can be solved by reducing the read-ahead optimisation. This can be adjusted by going to

Start-Settings-Control Panel-System Icon-Performance-File System-Hard Disk.

Hard disks will slow down and crash if they are too full. Do some housekeeping on your hard drive every few months and free some space on it. Open the Windows folder on the C drive and find the Temporary Internet Files folder. Deleting the contents (not the folder) can free a lot of space.

Empty the Recycle Bin every week to free more space. Hard disk drives should be scanned every week for errors or bad sectors. Go to Start-Programs-Accessories-System Tools-ScanDisk . Otherwise assign the Task Scheduler to perform this operation at night when the computer is not in use.

5 Fatal OE exceptions and VXD errors

Fatal OE exception errors and VXD errors are often caused by video card problems. These can often be resolved easily by reducing the resolution of the video display. Go to

Start-Settings-Control Panel-Display-Settings

Here you should slide the screen area bar to the left. Take a look at the colour settings on the left of that window. For most desktops, high colour 16-bit depth is adequate. If the screen freezes or you experience system lockups it might be due to the video card. Make sure it does not have a hardware conflict. Go to

Start-Settings-Control Panel-System-Device Manager

Here, select the + beside Display Adapter. A line of text describing your video card should appear. Select it (make it blue) and press properties. Then select Resources and select each line in the window. Look for a message that says No Conflicts.

If you have video card hardware conflict, you will see it here. Be careful at this point and make a note of everything you do in case you make things worse. The way to resolve a hardware conflict is to uncheck the Use Automatic Settings box and hit the Change Settings button. You are searching for a setting that will display a No Conflicts message.

Another useful way to resolve video problems is to go to

Start-Settings-Control Panel-System-Performance-Graphics

Here you should move the Hardware Acceleration slider to the left. As ever, the most common cause of problems relating to graphics cards is old or faulty drivers (a driver is a small piece of software used by a computer to communicate with a device).

Look up your video card’s manufacturer on the internet and search for the most recent drivers for it.

6 Viruses

Often the first sign of a virus infection is instability. Some viruses erase the boot sector of a hard drive, making it impossible to start. This is why it is a good idea to create a Windows start-up disk. Go to

Start-Settings-Control Panel-Add/Remove Programs

Here, look for the Start Up Disk tab. Virus protection requires constant vigilance.

A virus scanner requires a list of virus signatures in order to be able to identify viruses. These signatures are stored in a DAT file. DAT files should be updated weekly from the website of your antivirus software manufacturer. An excellent antivirus programme is McAfee VirusScan by Network Associates ( www.nai.com ). Another is Norton AntiVirus 2000, made by Symantec ( www.symantec.com ).

7 Printers

The action of sending a document to print creates a bigger file, often called a postscript file.

Printers have only a small amount of memory, called a buffer. This can be easily overloaded. Printing a document also uses a considerable amount of CPU power. This will also slow down the computer’s performance.

If the printer is trying to print unusual characters, these might not be recognised, and can crash the computer. Sometimes printers will not recover from a crash because of confusion in the buffer. A good way to clear the buffer is to unplug the printer for ten seconds. Booting up from a powerless state, also called a cold boot, will restore the printer’s default settings and you may be able to carry on.

8 Software

A common cause of computer crash is faulty or badly-installed software. Often the problem can be cured by uninstalling the software and then reinstalling it. Use Norton Uninstall or Uninstall Shield to remove an application from your system properly. This will also remove references to the programme in the System Registry and leaves the way clear for a completely fresh copy.

The System Registry can be corrupted by old references to obsolete software that you thought was uninstalled. Use Reg Cleaner by Jouni Vuorio to clean up the System Registry and remove obsolete entries. It works on Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98 SE (Second Edition), Windows Millennium Edition (ME), NT4 and Windows 2000.

Read the instructions and use it carefully so you don’t do permanent damage to the Registry. If the Registry is damaged you will have to reinstall your operating system. Reg Cleaner can be obtained from http://www.jv16.org/

Often a Windows problem can be resolved by entering Safe Mode. This can be done during start-up. When you see the message “Starting Windows” press F4. This should take you into Safe Mode.

Safe Mode loads a minimum of drivers. It allows you to find and fix problems that prevent Windows from loading properly.

Sometimes installing Windows is difficult because of unsuitable BIOS settings. If you keep getting SUWIN error messages (Windows setup) during the Windows installation, then try entering the BIOS and disabling the CPU internal cache. Try to disable the Level 2 (L2) cache if that doesn’t work.

Remember to restore all the BIOS settings back to their former settings following installation.

9 Overheating

Central processing units (CPUs) are usually equipped with fans to keep them cool. If the fan fails or if the CPU gets old it may start to overheat and generate a particular kind of error called a kernel error. This is a common problem in chips that have been overclocked to operate at higher speeds than they are supposed to.

One remedy is to get a bigger better fan and install it on top of the CPU. Specialist cooling fans/heatsinks are available from www.computernerd.com or www.coolit.com

CPU problems can often be fixed by disabling the CPU internal cache in the BIOS. This will make the machine run more slowly, but it should also be more stable.

10 Power supply problems

With all the new construction going on around the country the steady supply of electricity has become disrupted. A power surge or spike can crash a computer as easily as a power cut. If this has become a nuisance for you then consider buying a uninterrupted power supply (UPS). This will give you a clean power supply when there is electricity, and it will give you a few minutes to perform a controlled shutdown in case of a power cut.

It is a good investment if your data are critical, because a power cut will cause any unsaved data to be lost.

How to make Firefox the default browser

| Browsers | April 10, 2011

If you have more than one web browser, Windows needs to know which browser to use by default. This article will show you how to make Firefox your default browser.

  1. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP) and then click Options
  2. Select the Advanced panel, then click the General tab, and then click Check Now. Default - Win
  3. Select Yes to set Firefox as your default browser.
Note: MSN Messenger and other applications may open Internet Explorer regardless of which browser is the default. Also, Internet service providers like PeoplePC Online, Juno and NetZero may provide connection software that automatically launches Internet Explorer.

To set another browser as the default, use the settings in the browser you wish to be your default.

My google adsense ad does not appear on Win7

| Google | October 29, 2010

It has been an annoying thing for me. If I don’t get a problem solved I would search here and far just to get through it. Ahh lucky me, today I typed “my google adsense does not appear on Win7” on the google search bar and guess what, I found my answer. I was wondering why my OJTs couldn’t find the solution themselves. I’ve been telling them to google it up, and yet they’re getting nowhere. I told them exactly the same that I did. Maybe they weren’t just lucky on searches or lost hope in finding it or they must have used unrelated keywords.

google-win7-adsense does not appear

google-win7-adsense does not appear

So here it is; the “work-around” Link:

http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/AdSense/thread?tid=6c24c94034eeb58f&hl=en

One comment there said; “If it’s not an ad blocker plugin, it could be your anti-virus or personal firewall software.”

This could be true but when I deleted the google text at the “host file” that solved it and my google-adsense ads came to life again. Make sure you use “open as Administrator” when you use Notepad to edit, otherwise you may not be able to save the “host” file.

(Right-click Notepad @Win7 START menu under Accessories then click “Run as Administrator”; open the file in the folder you see at the figure above, then edit and save.)

I hope this will help anyone who has the same issue.
